A Coach’s Surprising Way in Choosing a Winner, and Here’s What You Should Look for Too

In one of the workshops I attended, I heard a story of a speaker where he mentioned that he once encountered a triathlon coach who have a knack for picking up winners.
What was the secret?
“It’s easy”, the sprint coach started, “I will bet on the athlete who says, ‘I’m doing this for my mom’”.
I’ve heard stories similar to this.
In one of a workshop, the speaker called a participant to demonstrate.
A bulky black guy with dreads was handed a microphone. He was asked, “Why are you attending this business seminar?”, it started with a simple answer of “to make money”.
But the speaker probes more, and ask again, “why do you want to make money?”.
The answer was, “I want to be financially stable”.
Then the speaker asked again, “Why do you want to be financially stable?”
