Don’t Quit Your Job To Start A Business

The constant struggle of paying bills once your salary arrive has been a constant struggle for me. So I looked around for side hustle. I started learning stocks, options, ebay and Amazon.

If you’re like me too, I started to read a lot of business books to have my business up and running. As I was listening to the audio book “7 Figures in 7 years”, I learned that it’s better to start with an information business because the return of investments is massive.

I pay somebody from Fiverr to write my articles and make an audio book and I after my initial investment of paying those writers and narrators or voice actors for my product, I then sell it on the market.

Once it starts selling, the initial investment is already paid. The author’s advice was so valuable that I am convince I should have started with information products (I sell Chemistry and math tutorials because I am a chemist).

I struggled selling in Amazon. According to Michael Masterson, a self-made millionaire, don’t start with retail, because the ROI is low and it takes a lot of work.

That was my first mistake. I jumped to selling in Amazon, but realized it was hard to move up and be profitable sooner. In this kind of business, you need a long runway.

The most important thing that my mentor told me, and it’s also the advice of other entrepreneur, is to don’t quit your job yet.

I remember Daymond’s life in the his one of his story in his book “Rise and Grind”, he said, it took him 5 years before going solo. He was working at Red Lobster for 5 long years while hustling in the side until it was time.

It provided him food, insurance and money to seed his business.

It wasn’t easy for him, and I know it is not easy for me. I work full time, but in the end of the day, I hustle.

Yesterday particularly, I slept at 8 PM because I was so tired and can’t function anymore. It was like that. Mid week, by Wednesday, I’m tired, but I wake up early though to work.

I have friends who always told me, should I quit my job? I would say no if you can. Stay until you learn the ropes and your business idea is moving forward. Michael Materson said, your business idea is just an idea until it’s tested in the market.

I failed a lot of business, or shall I say, some of them broke even, and I was thankful that I didn’t quit because the job put food in the table and I have an insurance too.

So, don’t quit your job is you are still growing your business. Work hard in your job, and do the same when you are with your side hustle.

Last night, I felt so tired that sometimes I asked myself is this worth it? I told myself a very important thing that I learned when I started this journey. I got it from Steven Larsen and Russel Brunson. It says:

“The Obstacle Is The Way.”

I always interpret that as the only way to success is through that obstacles.
