Years ago, I had a female client with a very toned, well-defined physique. She told me that her close friend is struggling to get pregnant.
‘She also works out a lot like you?’ I asked.
‘Yes, her body fat is just 5%,’ she replied
I told her the problem: low body fat can make pregnancy difficult.
Why?
If the body thinks it’s starving, it won’t support another life.
Weeks later, my client emailed that her friend conceived after increasing her body fat.
That leads me to my time in grad school, where one of our professors dropped this question: ‘Ever wonder why the human body is such a masterpiece of design?’
He paused for effect.
Meanwhile, at the back of the room, I was ticking off hundreds of reasons why the human body is so well-designed.
