Ninjas wait, wait…., and wait more, before they attack: Lessons on being patient.

ONE SHOT: Snipers and Ninjas have one thing in common: They can wait and wait until the perfect opportunity.

Dear Koji,

I’m writing this letter while I am waiting for Mommy to finish her work at her office/laboratory. I am park near the engineering building of the University of Florida.

It’s hot and humid. It’s around 90 F. I am also waiting for you to come home from Aquatica field trip from Orlando. So it works out.

I was early and I have a lot of time to kill.

Here’s the thing: If this situation happened to me before, I would be shifting my butt in my car’s front sit as I wait impatiently. I would be like a wild animal growling to myself to make the clock run faster.

Since I practiced meditation almost a decade ago, it gave me the advantage of being more patient. I don’t react to things that would annoy me (like waiting for somebody).

For example, right now, I should be annoyed for waiting. I have an hour to spare. Instead of being annoyed and impatient, I parked calmly near a shade, and then meditated for 10 mins.

I almost slept, but meditation calms my mind and my muscles.

Then after meditation, I wrote this entry for you. After writing, I will walk. Although I’m still on my work clothes, it doesn’t matter, because I just need the steps to count for my daily dosage of 5–10 k steps.

If I have time, I’ll meditate again.

My point really is that you don’t want to react to every situation badly. Like for me, waiting for an hour will annoys me before. My face will be full of wrinkle thinking about the time to burn. Basically just being impatient. but I CHOOSE not to be annoyed and to do something positive.

Be patient. And remember too, if you wait, be resourceful with your time (that will be my next lesson, being resourceful, because it’s not the resources that slows you down, but your resourcefulness, but I’m getting ahead).

I am hoping you learn a lot from this letter.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

PS

Ninjas and snipers have infinite patience waiting for the right opportunity. Just one perfect shot. I heard stories of snipers waiting for days, waiting for his or her pray.

Think about it, you have the right frame of mind to do these kinds of task. (I will discuss frames next time).

Love,

Mommy and Daddy
